School Readings

I regularly visit schools and read my rhymes to children of 5 – 9 years. I also talk about where my ideas for my rhymes come from and how the character illustrations are developed. For primary children between 9 – 11 who may be budding authors, I talk about the process of creating a book and getting it published. I also run art workshops and teach children how to draw some of their favourite characters from my books.

Parents will always have the opportunity to buy a signed book for their children on the day of my readings.

Some feedback from teachers and pupils….

Sophie Baber, Headteacher at Brookham School, said,

“We were extremely privileged to have Andréa visit Highfield and Brookham. She encouraged the children to have fun with language, and they revelled in joining in with the repetitive rhymes and a series of actions. The session greatly enthused them and boosted the confidence of our aspiring writers whilst helping them understand how books are created. Keep your eyes peeled for future budding authors! ”

Pupil Year 6

“ I really loved the workshop that Andréa ran for us. It was so interesting, and we learnt all about the stages she went through to get her book published. The best part was seeing the stages she went through with the illustrations.”

Pupil Year 6

‘Andréa really inspired me when she came to talk to us about her funny books. I liked hearing about how we too could become authors and have our own books published. It was very cool that we could get a copy of her signed book.”
